MSC Technologies, a company of Avnet (NYSE: AVT), has added the Thin Mini-ITX industrial motherboards EMX-APLP and EMX-SKLUP from Avalue to its franchise portfolio. The two 170 x 170 mm motherboards have a similar layout and provide the full range of performance for diverse applications thanks to their different processor technologies. The EMX-APLP and EMX-SKLUP support the connection of up to three independent displays with 4K resolution via the DisplayPort and HDMI interfaces and with a resolution of 1920 x 1020 via LVDS.
The EMX-APLP runs on a quad-core Intel® Pentium® N4200 SoC processor from the current “Apollo Lake” family of processors, which is based on the low-power Goldmont microarchitecture. Clocked at 1.1 GHz/2.5 GHz and with a specified TDP of 6 W, the motherboard is specially designed for embedded applications, for instance in gaming, POS, digital signage, ATMs, monitoring systems and park management.
Two 204-pin DDR3L SO-DIMM sockets for up to 16 GB of memory are provided on the motherboard. In addition to two Gigabit Ethernet ports, there are nine USB interfaces, six serial interfaces and audio I/O. The EMX-APLP offers two SATA interfaces for data storage, with one of the ports taking the form of an mSATA 3.0 interface on the Mini-PCIe slot. The M.2 type A 2230 socket is intended to enable system expansions with wi-fi modules, but can be programmed as a PCIe x1 interface.
The EMX-SKLUP integrates a dual-core Intel® Core™ U-series or Intel® Celeron® sixth-generation processor (“Skylake”) with a maximum TDP of 15 W. The flagship model is fitted with the Intel® Core™ i7-6600U clocked at 2.6 GHz. The target markets are industry, automation, POS systems, portable medical devices, in-vehicle PCs, digital video recorders and set-top boxes.
This powerful motherboard has up to 32 GB of high-speed DDR4 RAM integrated. 8 x USB, 6 x serial, digital and analog audio and 2 x SATA are offered by way of interfaces. There is also one SD slot, one PCIe slot, a SIM card slot and M.2 Key B and A slots.
