Mouser announces that it has been named the 2023 Best Service Catalog Distributor of the Year by Diodes Incorporated (Diodes), a leading manufacturer and supplier of high-quality application-specific products within the broad discrete, logic, analogue, and mixed-signal semiconductor markets. Mouser received the award for achieving both sales and customer growth for Diodes. Representatives from Diodes presented the Mouser team with the 2023 Distributor of the Year Award, with Emily Yang, Senior Vice President Worldwide Sales and Marketing at Diodes, commenting that the award recognises Mouser’s focus on meeting the needs of Diodes and Diodes’ customers.   • New Product – Mouser Shipping STMicroelectronics VL53L4ED Time-of-Flight Proximity Sensor for Presence and System Activation Applications

Mouser is now stocking the VL53L4ED time-of-flight (ToF) high-accuracy proximity sensor from STMicroelectronics. The VL53L4ED is designed for high-accuracy, short-range measurements that require extended temperature performance for robotics, presence detection, industrial automation, and system activation applications. The VL53L4ED proximity sensor supports an effective temperature range of -40°C to +105°C, guaranteeing accurate measurements even under extreme temperatures. This high-performance sensor features a short distance linearity of 1mm and an autonomous low-power mode, with an interrupt programmable threshold to wake the host. This sensor offers an 18° field of view for measurements from 1mm up to 1300mm in standard conditions and up to 1150mm under extended temperature. The VL53L4ED features a fast-ranging frequency of up to 100Hz. Like all time-of-flight sensors based on STMicroelectronics’ FlightSense™ technology, the VL53L4ED records an absolute distance measurement regardless of the target colour and reflectance. STMicroelectronics X-NUCLEO-53L4A3 expansion board assists in learning, evaluating, and developing applications using the VL53L4ED ToF high-accuracy proximity sensor with extended temperature capability. The STMicroelectronics SATEL-VL53L4ED breakout board offers easy access to all of the VL53L4ED sensor’s signal pins for integration into prototypes.

  • New Fixture – Mouser Long-Term Partner DS PENSKE Formula E Team Racing Team Headed to Italy’s Adriatic Coast for Misano Doubleheader

Mouser cheered on the DS PENSKE Formula E racing team in Misano, Italy, for rounds 6 and 7 of Season 10 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. The race weekend kicked off on 13th April for round 6 and continued on 14th April for round 7. The races took place at the iconic Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli circuit, which is located in the beautiful Emilia-Romagna region. Usually home to Grand Prix Motorcycle (MotoGP) and Superbike World (WorldSBK) racing, as well as endurance and sports car racing, the circuit was designed in 1969 before opening in 1972. For Formula E’s first visit, the circuit ran to 3.382 km with 14 turns. The DS PENSKE Racing team had two past Formula E Champions driving its cars, 2022 World Champion Stoffel Vandoorne and the unique two-time Formula E Champion, Jean-Éric Vergne. Mouser is supporting the DS PENSKE team for the globe-trekking 2024 season in collaboration with TTI, Inc. and valued manufacturers Molex and KYOCERA AVX. Mouser and Molex have been partnering to sponsor Formula E racing since 2015. The Formula E series features cars that are powered solely by electricity and represent a vision for the future of the motorsports industry, serving as a framework for research and development around zero-emission motoring.

Mouser is now stocking the RA8T1 Arm® Cortex®-M85 microcontroller (MCU) from Renesas Electronics. The RA8T1 MCU meets modern motor control demands, offering high performance, low power consumption, and intelligent operation. The RA8T1 MCU features a 480MHz Arm Cortex-M85 core with Helium™ technology that provides up to a 4X performance boost for digital signal processor (DSP) and machine learning (ML) implementations over the Cortex-M7 core. The efficient, high-performance MCU is suitable for use in AI predictive maintenance applications that detect anomalies and reduce costly downtime. The RA8T1 offers up to 2 MBytes of code flash memory with dual-bank, background and SWAP operation, 12 KBytes of data flash, and 1 MByte of SRAM with Parity/ECC. The microcontroller features an Ethernet MAC controller, USB 2.0 full-speed, and advanced analogue functionalities, making it a highly adaptable solution for a variety of precise control tasks. In addition, the RA8T1 MCU is equipped with a range of analogue and communication peripherals for increased adaptability and functionality. The MCU includes advanced security features such as leading-edge cryptographic algorithms, TrustZone, Secure Boot, and immutable storage. The RA8T1 microcontroller is supported by the RA8T1 evaluation boards and the Renesas Flexible Software Package (FSP). The RA8T1 MCU delivers precise motor control for applications including building and industrial automation, smart home devices, and medical equipment.
