  • Sponsorship – Mouser Sponsors NXP Cup 2024, Empowering Engineers of The Future

Mouser is pleased to announce its sponsorship of the NXP Cup 2024 and a special online prize draw to celebrate the occasion. The NXP Cup is an EMEA-based autonomous car competition presented by NXP Semiconductors and designed to provide students with real-world experiences in autonomous vehicle programming and building. Mouser has sponsored the contest since 2016. The student teams who signed up in October will need to construct, code, and race a self-driving model car, having time to hone their designs before the campus races take place in April and May across EMEA. This year’s event will feature over 150 teams representing several EMEA countries, including Germany, Romania, France, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Lebanon, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Morocco, Switzerland, Tunisia, and Greece. The winning teams of the campus races will partake in the finals, which will take place in May with the location being announced soon. Teams will compete in the ‘Speed Race’, where they will have to complete an undisclosed track layout in the fastest amount of time before completing the ‘Lap of Honor’. For this, contestants will have to slow down their cars to ensure they stop automatically within 10cm of an obstacle placed on the racetrack. The winning teams will receive in total of 6,000 Euros, with the winners of the ‘Lap of Honor’ being presented by Mouser.

  • New Product – Mouser Now Shipping Analog Devices’ MAX32690 Arm Cortex-M4F Microcontroller with BLE 5.2 for Industrial and Wearables

Mouser is now stocking the MAX32690 microcontroller (MCU) from Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI). Combining all the necessary processing horsepower with the ease of connectivity and Bluetooth® required for a variety of consumer and industrial Internet of Things (IoT) applications, the MAX32690 is an ideal ultra-efficient MCU for battery-powered applications presented in an advanced system-on-chip (SoC) offering. The SoC offers external crystal support (32MHz required for Bluetooth LE) and provides 3MB of internal Flash and 1MB of internal SRAM, with external Flash and SRAM expansion interfaces also available. The robust offering of on-chip communication interfaces has multiple QSPI, UART, CAN 2.0B and I2C serial high-speed interfaces, plus one I2S port for connecting to an audio codec. All interfaces enable efficient DMA-driven transfers between the peripheral and memory, and a 12-input (8x external), 12-bit SAR ADC samples analogue data at up to 1 megasamples per second (Msps). The MAX32690’s Bluetooth 5.2 low energy (LE) radio supports multiple modes, including mesh, long-range (coded), and high-throughput, with the device’s RISC-V core freeing up the programmer from BLE interrupt latency concerns by handling timing-critical controller tasks. LE Audio hardware implemented with the software codec is provided separately. For IP data/security concerns, the MAX32690 offers a Cryptographic Toolbox (CTB) that features a modular arithmetic accelerator (MAA), an advanced encryption standard (AES) engine, TRNG, SHA-256 hash and secure boot loader.
