Modum.io AG has developed a compact data logger for temperature-controlled transports, which uses the Sensirion STS3x as a high-precision, calibrated digital temperature sensor. The device is part of Modum’s solution to EU-GDP (Good Distribution Practice) compliant logistics chain monitoring that can monitor the environmental conditions of a wide range of temperature-sensitive goods, including Pharmaceuticals.
Conformance, traceability and auditability of deliveries are achieved by depositing and securing high-quality environmental data using Blockchain, a decentralized Ledger technology. For example, upon receipt of a delivery, the cryptographically secured metrics and metadata, such as the. the receiver sends the individual component number of the temperature sensor wirelessly to the blockchain, which ensures complete transparency. Compliance with the conditions previously agreed by the sender and receiver is checked by blockchain-based, automated routines called smart contracts, after which deliveries are either released or retained.
Sensirion’s STS3x products are 2.5 × 2.5 × 0.9 mm3 in size and are suitable for many battery-powered IoT applications thanks to their low power consumption and wide supply voltage range of 2.15V to 5.5V , The sensors are particularly suitable for products that can not compromise on accuracy and reliability. The sensors are fully calibrated, linearized and supply voltage compensated, eliminating the need for user correction or calibration. Like all sensors from Sensirion, the STS3x is based on the unique CMOSens® technology, which integrates sensor element and readout electronics on a single chip, thus enabling a high production volume at an excellent price-performance ratio.
