When a Radio Module Is Integrated, What Still Needs to Be Tested?
Using a pre-assessed Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or cellular module can simplify the development of a connected product. But the module’s existing assessment does not remove every compliance question for the finished product.
Once integrated, the radio becomes part of a new system. The antenna environment, PCB, enclosure, power supply, cables, interfaces and software configuration can all influence radio and EMC performance.
For development teams, the important question is therefore not simply whether the module has already been assessed, but:
Which existing test evidence can still be used, and what needs to be verified in the finished product?
On 22 October, EKTOS Testing & Reliability Services is opening its test lab in Hvidovre for a practical Open Lab session focused on radio module integration and compliance.
From Module to Finished Product
Rather than another presentation about the Radio Equipment Directive (RED), the session will bring the discussion into the lab.
EKTOS test engineers will explore:
- What does a RED-certified radio module actually give you?
- What is the benefit of using a certified vs. non-certified module?
- What still needs to be tested in the host product on Radio and EMC?
- What about the US and Canada? And
- Answer participants’ own technical and compliance questions
The session is relevant for electronics engineers, product developers and compliance teams working with IoT devices, industrial electronics, connected products and other wireless equipment.
The participant group will be kept small to allow time for technical discussion and individual questions.
