Digilent Introduces High Speed Portable Logic Analyzer & Pattern Generator Kit

Digilent introduces Digital Discovery High-Speed Portable Logic Analyzer and Pattern Generator Kit for home office lab. With this kit, engineers can debug digital systems from home to continue the hardware and software development.  The kit contains Digital Discovery and High Speed Adapter.

The Digilent Digital Discovery™ is a combined logic analyzer and pattern generator instrument that was created to be the ultimate embedded development companion. Digital Discovery was designed to optimize channels, speed, and portability. The Digital Discovery is driven by the free WaveForms software and can be configured to be any of the below instruments:

  • 32-channel digital logic analyzer
  • Digital Bus Analyzers
  • 16-channel pattern generator
  • 16-channel virtual digital I/O including buttons, switches, and LEDs
  • A programmable power supply of 1.2…3.3V/100mA

The High-Speed Adapter provides access for up to 24 High-Speed Logic Probes and allows increased sample rates for up 800 MS/s on the Digital Discovery. The adapter is not keyed, and both orientations can be used as the twisted wires are not color-coded.

Software Compatibility

WaveForms features a computer and laptop friendly user interface that has the feel of traditional benchtop equipment. The software is compatible to Windows, Linux, MAC, and Raspberry Pi 4. The WaveForms Software Development Kit (SDK) provides libraries and examples in Python, C++, and more so that advanced users can build custom applications or automated test.

NI LabVIEW Developers can also use Digital Discovery High Speed Kit with NI LabVIEW to test the digital system. The getting started guide is available at Digilent Wiki.
