Web Seminar: Power Electronics Cooling Calculation at Room Level

Power electronics is the key component in order to adjust power from renewable energy such as from wind and solar to the grid frequency. The rectifier and the inverter power modules are assembled on power electronics boards. These boards are usually placed together with chokes, switches, cables and cable trays in an enclosure. Setting up CFD calculations at room level means that the model includes the complete enclosure.

What You Will Learn

  • The definition of the model at room level.
  • Assessing the operating point of the fans (volume flow vs pressure) according to the manufacturer’s fan curves.
  • Assessing the thermal behavior with 3D-CFD flow calculations including heat transfer.
  • Why FloEFD is well suited for the thermal design of power electronics.
